Fair 2010 - Night 2

Spent the entire day at the fair and again had an awesome time!! We started our day by walking through the horse barn. It was closed for the night by the time we had made it there during our 1st visit. The girls just love the horses, Evan wasn't quite so sure though but, eventually relented and did pet one! Their massive size is very intimidating especially when you are only 3 yrs old! After walking the grounds for a few hrs we stopped to watch some friends dance! Their kids did such a great job and the girls loved watching the dancing! Then time for dinner at the fair which is always fantastically bad for you but, SO good!!! The day ended with the night of destruction event...nothing better than a little fun watching monster trucks, bus/car demolition derby's and figure 8 races! It was a crazy long day, we were all exhausted but, the smiles never faded! The kids were such troopers!! Here are a few pictures from the evening, I left the good camera in the van so the picture quality gets pretty bad as the evening went on and it got darker out!
As we began our journey out of the fair grounds for the last time this summer Evan's comment (when asked if he had a good time) pretty much summed it up. "IT'S GOOD"!! ;-)

Friday the 13th...

most think of this day as bringing bad news or ill fortune but, for me today is different, I often remember one of our little angels that we had lost along the way (who was due friday July 13th, 2001) and thank God for the blessings we have in our other 5 children. And today I received a message that Mom & Dad's marker had been set at their burial site. Something we had been waiting on, for the last few months. The kids were happy to join us on the trek to Forest Lawn (even though mommy gets lost every time we go there...lol) and go "visit" so to speak grandma & grandpa. I really am happy with the cemetery that my brother Chris chose for their burial, it's has a beautiful park like atmosphere and it's just full of history. I look forward to one of these days taking a walk through there and taking it all in. With the marker we chose, we were only able to put on their basic information. I would like to in the near future place another flat stone there in front of the main marker with more words about them, their life and what they meant to all of us!

the start of something new
I decided to jump into the world of blogging, for those family and friends who we love and just aren't able to keep in touch with as we would like to. It will also serve as a way of preserving memories for Den and I as well as the kids!
We are on the brink of starting a new school year with the kids, new activities and adventures. I will try to keep this updated as best I can as our journey unfolds before us...
